To celebrate Zero Emissions Day, we’ve highlighted five steps we’ve taken as a business to reduce our emissions and be more environmentally responsible…
1. Our Zero Emissions Twizy
The Renault Twizy is a two-seater, electric vehicle and is technically classified as a quadricycle. It has a range of 100km, or 62 miles before it requires a recharge, which takes about 3 hours. The Twizy is super compact and light, with a length of just 2.37m and a width of 1.19m. The seats in the Twizy are arranged in tandem, so the passenger seat is behind the driver and it has a top speed of 50mph.
2. Our fleet of bicycle couriers
You may have seen our specially adapted bicycles around the city, and we are proud to have them as part of our zero emissions fleet. We’re big fans of swapping fuel guzzling vehicles for bikes in order to keep our city clean and green.
3. The electric BMW motorbike
There is a common misconception that zero emissions vehicles aren’t particularly stylish or slick – but that’s certainly not the case with our electric BMW motorbike. Speaking about the fleet of zero emission modes of transport, Deadline CEO, Stephen McCann said, “We are very aware of our environmental footprint and in an average week, just one of our drivers will cover around 1,200 miles. That’s a huge mileage and we’re proud to say that the negative impact on the environment that would have been created in traditional vans, trucks, cars and motorbikes, will be drastically reduced.”
4. The Deadline Pledge
The Deadline Pledge is our declaration to customers, and to the wider community, that demonstrates the ways in which we are taking positive action over the next five years towards making Dublin a greener city. You can read the full pledge on our website: http://bit.ly/DeadlinePledge
5. Our Green Partnerships
Since we made our commitment to support Ireland’s climate change targets, we’ve worked with various companies to build green partnerships. In June, we partnered with The Bretzel Bakery to deliver freshly baked bread to their stand at Bloom in our specially adapted bicycles.
